Eau Claire is a city in western Wisconsin in the United States, the county seat of Eau Claire County. According to the 2011 US Census Bureau, 66,623 people live in the city. The name "Eaux Claires" comes from the French "Eaux Claires", which means "clear waters". Founded in the 1840s, in 1872 it received the status of a city.
