There are 72 waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen valley, the most famous of which is the Staubbach waterfall, which falls from a height of about 300 meters. This waterfall is one of the tallest waterfalls in Europe. In 1779, Johann Wolfgang Goethe visited this valley and, impressed by the rumbling waterfall, subsequently wrote his famous poem "The Song of Spirits over the Waters." Trummelbach Falls, made up of 10 cascades hidden inside the Black Monk Mountain, is no less deafening. From a height of 200 meters, up to 20,000 liters of melt water flies off every second. The waterfall can only be viewed in the summer using an elevator going through the illuminated tunnels.
