Seattle is the largest metropolis in the Pacific Northwest. Puget Sound, around which the city is located, is surrounded by the green landscape of Washington State. The Olympic and Cascade Mountains with snow caps loom in the distance, and above them is the cone of Mount Rainier, 4392 m high. It is cool and damp all around, hence the nickname "Emerald City". It is especially lively here in spring and summer.
